This are realy nice photo's. What I would like to know is what color stripe does he had on his right arm?
I know you can not see it on these photo's but I know that the Border Regiment uniform had such thing.

Than you know if he was with the infantry or light infantry. Something like that.

Hi Tanja,

Do you no something i have always assumed that this photo of Granda was from the his time in the Royal Engineers now you have me thinking ?
Sorry i don't no what colour the stipe is.
Granda went onto serve in the 80 Assault Squadron RE has a tank driver in a Churchill AVRE one of Hobart's Funnies and was one of the 1st tanks to land on Juno beach D-Day.

Mike.

P.S i meant to say i am also a member of WW2 Talk and my name on there is Deacs i have read your posts and you have done some great work well done.

Hallo Mike,

Well if he was of the Royal Engineers he would have had a blue-red stripe ons his arm. See attachment.

Thank you very much for your nice words. Yes I have found a lot of information about my uncle Gilbert. I also started an investigation about my uncle Thomas who was POW in Malasia.

But it must be said, that nobody can do this without help of others. Sometimes it takes a lot of writing, asking and reading, and than suddenly some information just comes to you and put missing elements into place. I feel that I have been very lucky with a lot of members of http://www.ww2talk.com who have provide me with information.

Greetings

Tanja
