34th In Afghanistan 1879

Postby hussar1000 » Sat Nov 05, 2016 2:18 pm

33 men from the 34th are entitled to the Afghanistan 1878-80 medal with no bar. I have the medal roll with all the names. A very scarce medal to the regiment and I have just managed to add one to the collection.

Does anyone know what they were actually engaged in doing there?

I can find no source that gives this information.

I have emailed the museum and heard nothing back. I also asked how many of the medals they held. Does any forum member regularly visit and could count how many they have on display please?

From the museum - apparently used in communication and signals.
