WW1 Medal Rolls on Ancestry

Postby hussar1000 » Mon Nov 10, 2014 11:13 pm

WW1 medal rolls are now available on Ancestry and many now show the battalion number where MICs do not always.

Have spent a few minutes browsing and noted which battalions some of the men in my collection served in.....sadly there were still a couple which didn't show the battalion.

There are rolls which show the issue of a 14 or 14/15 star and a second roll will show WW1 pairs of war medal and victory medal.

If a Border Regiment man was posted to another unit then he will probably be found under the unit transferred into. I found quite a few under Labour Corps.

A useful research tool.
