Hello.New to this forum and looking for any information on my Great Grandfather.I've found his medal record, but was wondering how to find out which battalion, sectors, etc he served in.  Any help would be appreciated.Thank's.Tom.

Try Ancestry and see if Herbert Thorp's Service Record has survived. That should tell you more.
Some libraries have Ancestry for free ( or the price of an hours PC time, anyways ).
Pictures are harder to come by, basically you will be very lucky if you haven't a family member with one.
Most local papers featured either men who were, killed wounded or won medals, and not all of them.
If you can find his battalion, then The Border Regiment in The Great War by WH Wylly gives a run down
of the battalions of the regiment, by year and the actions / sectors they were in. It is based on the war diaries and these will give even more information for a battalion.
