5th Border Regiment War Grave Project

Postby spike » Thu Jan 31, 2013 8:53 pm

The 5th Battalion (Territorial Force) Border Regiment War Grave Project and Roll Of Honour.

Soldiers of the Battalion who died The Great War 1914-1918.

In Remembrance of the men of the 5th Battalion(Territorial Force) Border Regiment in the Great War 1914-1918

This is my latest project and after a lot of work and research it is ready to go online.
It is still under part construction (the history page), but is otherwise time to publish.
The 5th Border were overseas from 1915 to 1920 and fought in France and Flanders in may areas. They also
went to Germany as part of the occupation of the Rhineland. There are many graves in small cemeteries and
churchyards and even a man on Helles Memorial. It includes the 1/5th and 2nd/5th and 5th Border.

Here is a link to a map showing the locations of all the cemeteries containing the 5th Border Regiment
5th Border Cemeteries

If any members live near, or plan to visit near, any of the cemeteries and can take pictures for me
I would be very grateful.....

Spike,

good luck with 'another' incredible undertaking!

I hope to have a couple of 'crafty days' on the Somme in the next month or so and I will try and pick a few off for you!

Best wishes,

As always, it is good to see you working on your roll of honour projects. You are always way more prepared than me and you seem to have an energy that keeps you going. I have had to put my similar projects on hold for an unknown amount of time until I can figure out what I will do with the wiki.

However, I want to wish you good luck with your next project ;-)

Unfortunately, none of the graves are near me so I can't help you there mate.

Spike,
You don't happen to know if the Kendal one(Parkside Road Cemetery) is on of those burials without headstones that we've remarked on in the past do you? If you remember we found that the Catholics do not seem to have markers for some strange reason?
I'll go and have a look at some point, but I just wondered if you knew for certain that there is a gravestone,
Regards Paul.
