I wonder if "Metcalfe" died "at home" in 1920 as result of wounds/gassing? I have found examples of this at Parkside Road cemetery, Kendal.

Paul looking on Ancestry his service records have survived and give a good detail on Martin's service,

He joined the 5th into "F" company on 1916.
He went to France 13,7,1916 - 4,10,1916.
Back home 5,10,1916 - 9,6,1917.
France 10,6,1917 - 14,2,1918.
Home 15,2,1918 - 27,2,1918.
France 28,2,1918 - 15,12,1918.
Home 16,12,1918.

Taken POW 30,3,1918. Templause Quarry ?

Died due to illness contracted whilst POW.
