Book Review: A Border Man in Normandy (youtube video)

Have you got any books that mention the regiment or any of the battalions? What are your favourite publications about the regiment? Got any recommendations for others?

Just found this on youtbe regarding the above named title.

For someone who reviews (his) books he does seem a little unfamiliar with them from time to time but here he does read the foreword to give you a brief intro to the book. Also, disregard what he says around 2:35!

I haven't seen this one before. Has anyone else seen or got this title?

In memory of John Bardgett (15309 L/Cpl.), 11th Border Regiment who died 1st July 1916.

Yes I have a signed copy. He is correct that only 400 were printed - almost a " private publication" I guess. It's an interesting - if a little "dry" read, but there is not much about the Border Regiment in it as of course, the author became "fugitive" from 1940, and thus was not with the regiment.
The author John Dugdale Vallely is mentioned in a 1948 honours list in “The Border Magazine” as Sergeant no 3599548 as receiving the Medal of Freedom, in London Gazette14/5/48, I believe he died in Carlisle in 2001, Paul

Interesting addition about the author Paul. That would have been an informative addition to the review.....have you ever considered doing a review on specific items in your collections? You have all the knowledge!! ;-) :-)

I sometimes find Wylly's book a bit of "dry" read but I couldn't image being without a copy.....it is like the holy scriptures of the Border Regiment of the Great War. I think I would be lost without it ;-)
