List of Border Regiment related publications

Postby kerchi » Thu Oct 23, 2008 10:14 pm

I thought I would pull together some of the publications about the Border Regiment to compile a definitive listing, be it old or new, books, magazines or information pamphlets; these were found by simple google, Abe Books and Amazon searches. [*]Items are listed alphabetically;
[*]Items list title, author, publisher, no. of pages and ISBN, some do not include full information;
[*]Cannot guarantee accuracy of some items listed here;
[*]It is possible there may be a repeat item under a slightly different title. This is good starting point and perhaps someone might find some use from this. If anyone knows of another publication not listed here, please add it to the thread, thanks.

Another related publication just found on a Google search is:

Title: The Yellow Earl: The Life of Hugh Lowther, 5th Earl of Lonsdale, K. G., G. C. V. O., 1857-1944
Author: Douglas Sutherland
Publisher: Cassell, 1965
No. of pages: 272

I don't what this is like or how good it is, maybe someone has read or seen parts of it but it should be relevant considering it is Hugh Lowther, the driving force before the Losndale Battalion!

The 2nd edition of "When Dragons Flew arrived through the post from the museum this morning. Well worth getting. A main attraction is the additional number of photos, including a whole new chapter of portraits of members of the regiment.

The books and other publications listed above (well most of them) have been added to the New Wiki project in a nice little template I designed specifically for them. Some have descriptions about them  but most do not. Does anyone have details (what the book is about, Border Regiment mentions, front cover images etc.) of any of these publications that they could add to the site or pass on to me?  Any help would be really appreciated  ;-)

If you do have info, check on the wiki first to see if I haven't added anything already.

I have been looking for this most of the night through google searches and I have had zero luck in finding a single one available anywhere. Do you know how many volumes there were / how long it ran for?
