Thanks for the add

I recently purchased a plaque to a 8157 Robert Crone MM 1st Border Regt.

A really interesting story as his original rank was drummer later promoted to Sjt . He was gazetted for his MM 11th November 1916 and sadly was KIA 14th April 1917 at Arras (CSM). He was injured in 1915 at Darnelles which was mentioned in the Cumberland news.

I have found him mentioned in a war diary posted on your forum. I am considering down loading the war diaries from National Archives, but thought I would put this out there in case anybody else has researched him already.

Welcome Chris,

I haven't researched this chap but some of his service records have survived on Ancestry which I have just read. If you have Ancestry the war diaries are also there.

Regards Mike.
