1/4th Bn Kendal territorials after mobilisation on 4th August 1914 marching along Aynam Road in Kendal from the Drill Hall to the station to entrain for Barrow-in-Furness. (Note old car on the left.)

Here's another from the same day - the machine gun section heading for Kendal railway station. ( see caption on back of photo, also attached)
Note that the officer is wearing his sword - and also the small boy beside them marching and "playing at soldiers"
