Had this published in The Westmorland Gazette - don't worry about legalities, obviously words are mine and photo is way out of copyright. Many thanks to Peter in Canada for sharing this photo and details.
I have been working with a local secondary school to produce a "Kendal Pals" play for the WW1 centenary , using actual characters ( and I am insisting "accurately"! - not another "Oh What a Lovely War") such as Sgt Walter Dixon.
