Great cutting - I've never seen anything similar relating to the 10th Bn
Any idea why their number is left blank? " -th" . I've haven't seen that for the other battalion photos of that period. I hardly think that the fact the number of Border battalions had reached double figures warranted it being keep secret! (- in fact of course it didn't when you look at all the publicity the raising of the 11th Lonsdale Bn generated)
I would have thought acknowledging having a large number of battalions raised was good for morale and the patriotic spirit too
Regards Paul.

I don't know Paul.
The picture was sent to me from New Zealand, where a lady was researching her ancestor 2nd Lt G.E Brown.

A lot of the New Zealand archive stuff is available online there. She sent this as the 10th Border and when
you compare the names to the Army lists, it certainly looks like the 10th Battalion circa early 1916.

I hope to visit the library archives next week and get some articles she has listed for G.E Brown next week
and send them to her.

Great photo Spike.

I have an article on the wiki about the Commanding Officer Col. Charles Henry Macintire Hitchins. An interesting chap to say the least.
