Westmorland & Cumberland Yeomanry

Postby plbramham » Fri Feb 10, 2012 11:14 am

Are you aware that there is a (small) Westmorland & Cumberland Yeomanry Museum? It's in the base of the Pele Tower at Dalemain House near Penrith at the head of Ullswater, Cumbria: http://www.dalemain.com
or it is featured with opening times etc on subsection of http://www.armymuseums.org.uk
There's a decent summary of the yeomanry's history at: http://www.eden.gov.uk/leisure-and-culture then go to Penrith & Eden Museum section ,- museum collections,-W& C Yeo
and of course not forgetting our very own Spike's site: freewebs.com/7borderandyeo
Tip - when doing research, I found some records are filed as " Cumberland & Westmorland" ( perhaps confusing it with the wrestling?) rather than the correct "Westmorland & Cumberland" .
Hope this is of help, Paul.
