11th Border Regt (Lonsdales)

Postby pelliott » Fri Apr 18, 2014 10:44 pm

Hello all

Just a quick post to mention that VERA (Victory In Europe Reenactment Association)who portray the 1st Battalion Border Regiment during WW2 are shortly about to begin a new project where a couple of members will be portraying soldiers of the 11th (Lonsdales) Borders during WW1.

All uniform and kit has been bought with members currently researching the correct badges and the history of the unit prior to the first event. It is hoped that as the news spreads of this UK (north east)based group, more people will want to join up and experience something a little nearer to what it may have been like to serve with the regiment during WW1 at first hand and therefore swelling the number of members in the group.

The group has access to a Lewis Gun, SMLE Rifles, period tentage and much more equipment and hope to attend events at schools, museums, living history days and national historical events during the coming months of 2014.

Should you feel an interest in this project or may be interested in booking the "Lonsdales" then please visit the groups website and click on the WW1 tab for further information. Contact details are also available on this website.

Currently the WW1 Lonsdale section of the website is under construction but we aim to complete this within the next week so please keep on checking the website for updates.

Thanks
