Location of newspaper archives

Postby hussar1000 » Sat Jan 05, 2013 10:57 am

Are any members able to tell me the locations of the various newspaper archives in Cumbria? I know they are usually held in libraries on microfiche but am wondering which libraries have which paper.

I have manage to obtain an index for the Cumberland News that lists local soldiers and gives dates for which issue of the paper they appear in. Hope the link works. May save a bit of time when doing research.

Sorry, I cannot help with the location of the archives, but i am sure someone will come up with the answer, previously Forum members have very kindly supplied me with some great 'press cuttings' of the Border's regarding the Boer War. Whilst on the subject of the Boer War does a similar list to your link exist please for that period?
Kind regards,

Sorry Scottie, can't help. The other list was posted on a different forum and I thought it would be useful here.

No problem. I just wish I lived closer so I could actually make use of these resources myself.
