Private J Thompson, Blencarn

News has reached Mrs Weldon, Blencarn, from the War Office, that her youngest son Private James Thompson, 7th Border was killed in action on 3rd July,  his eldest brother, Private John Thompson, Lonsdale Btn, being wounded about the same time, shot through both legs and a bayonet wound in the left arm.  The latter is in hospital at Oxford, and writing on the 18th inst, he states he is going on nicely.

The deceased, who was 20 years of age joined the army in September 1914 and his brother John enlisted in midsummer 1915. Mrs Weldon formerly resided at Brough.
