Captain Brian Charles Harrison
B Company
11th Border Regiment

Son of Charles Augustus and Julia Elizabeth Harrison.
B Company 11th Border Regiment, with battalion when
personnel transferred to the 5th Border in 1918.
Former teacher at Sedbergh School.
Died of wounds 12th August 1918, age 40.
Buried Rosieres Communal Cemetery Extension, grave III.E.15.

Originally a Lieutenant in B Company
Awarded the M.C and promoted to
Captain.
Was O.C. B Company during 1917 fighting
at Beaumont Hamel and Lombardzyde.

11th Border Regiment

One of the two Officers who travelled to
France with the Battalion transport
to Le Havre, 22nd November 1915.
He rejoined the battalion 27th November
1915 at Picquigny, after having helped
with the Transport disembarkation.
Wounded on July 1st 1916.

11th Border Regiment

Originally a Lieutenant in
November 1915.
Killed in action 1st July 1916.
Buried Lonsdale Cemetery, Authuille.
Age 29. Son of Colin and Adela J Brown,
of Old Meadow, South Zeal, Okehampton, Devon.

In the above picture in Captain Rivington's car he is seated by the driver.

and was Scouting Officer.
Promoted to Temporary Captain 1916
and became Officer Commanding C Company.

transf. Sept., 1915, to 11th Border Regt.
Wounded 22nd January 1916, by enemy artillery.
Died of wounds and buried in
Warloy Baillon Communal Cemetery, Somme, grave C.6.

Captain Alec John Dawson
Commanding Officer 'D' Company
11th Border Regiment

An author and traveller before the war
joined up himself as a Temporary Lieutenant
in the 11th Battalion Border Regiment.
He was promoted to Captain in 1915
and commanded C Company until
invalided out of the trenches in France early 1916.
Became General Staff Officer with Military Intelligence,
June 1916 to start up a new subsection of MI7.
MI7 (b) 1 was responsible for the supply of
military propaganda to the press.
In 1918 he was promoted to Major, and
transferred to set up a propaganda
department for the new Royal Air Force.
His book A ‘Temporary Gentleman’ in France'
is a 'no names no pack drill' account of the
11th Border whilst he served.

Captain Alfred Edward Corbett
'D' Company
11th Border Regiment

Son of architect E.A Corbett,
He studied at Manchester Technical College
and became an architect also.
Became a partner in Woodhouse Corbett and Dean Architects
of, 100, King Street, Manchester, England, working in
Manchester and London.
The firm were most famous as the architects of
St George's House (formerly the YMCA), Peter Street, Manchester.
Killed in action 1st July 1916.
