The Cumberland News of April 3rd 2009 carries an obituary for Colonel John Brough.

Colonel Brough was commissioned into the Border Regiment before being posted to the Far East  and serving with the 11th Sikh Regiment. After the campaign in Burma, he rejoined the Border Regiment, which became the King’s Own Royal Border Regiment and he then served with its 1st battalion.Colonel Brough's father served in the Border Regiment during the Great War.
