I'd love to come along, watch the parade and say hello but I live 350 miles away! It's times like this when I really wished I live in the same county or at least considerably closer when travel isn't so much of an issue. Being so far away (relatively speaking) can be quite frustrating at times but I hope all goes well for you on the day.

Being there for your ancestor in his honour is very admirable and my best wishes go to you and your family. I will be thinking of my great grandfather and the sacrifices made. If you take any photos I, and I am sure other forum members, would like to see how you get on ;-)

Sorry to have missed you. I was all set to come to the Kendal memorial last Sunday, but at the last moment I had medical problems – so, for probably the first time in over 20 years, I was compelled to miss it.
I visited the memorial today, where I met one of the last surviving Kendal Border Regiment veterans Jack Gill – he’s the bloke on the left of the photo.

Nice to see you chaps in your uniforms looking the part; how did you get on? Have you any other photos of the day?

Shame you missed the Remembrance Day parade Paul, I understand it is something you particularly like to attend; just wish I could have been there myself.

Did you speak to Jack while you were there?

1922 pattern to simulate how my grandad looked in 39 when he and the rest of 4th Battalion paraded through Kendal and off to war!
