Carlisle Utd

So, it's back down to league two, equivalent to the old fourth division. Do you remember the heady days when, very briefly, Carlisle Utd headed the old first division in their first, and only, year in the top flight?

Was that 1974? the year after I started grammar school.I think they plummeted down divisions each season after that. We had just one lad in our form who supported Carlisle and got the Mickey taken out of him - everyone else supported Manchester Utd or Liverpool.
(What the hell, it's only 22 men kicking a bag of wind from one end of a field to another - won't change the course of history , eh?)
Cheers Paul.

I remember many less "Heady" days of being actually worse off than we are now.

However bad I feel about the situation, it has been worse and I'll still support them
next season :eeek:

I've never been a total fanatic, but having lived in Carlisle in the mid 50s then later in the early 60s, with visits, of course, to Brunton Park, I've followed the team's fortunes from the days of the 3rd division north onwards.
