17355_Fell_WA_LCpl.jpg
William Fell was one of the first Lonsdales killed in the trenches, in early 1916 and is buried in Aveluy Communal Cemetery Extension, grave C.30.
The Lonsdales were in, early February, in the Aveluy area, in F1 and F2 subsectors.
Wiliiam Fell appears to have been filling in for a sick comrade and was killed in a heavy bombardment of the left of the subsectors, which is reported in the war diary as
F1 SECTOR - 9/2/16 Heavy bombardment of the left of F1 and F2 subsectors.
Casualties 1 killed; 1 wounded; 2 shellshock.

They were relieved by the 17th H.L.I. on the 11th February and William Fell was probably buried then.
