2ND (WESTMORLAND) V.B., BORDER REGIMENT ORDERS

2nd (Westmorland) Vol. Batt., the Border Regiment - Extract from Battalion Orders by Col. R. C. Gillow, commanding, for week ending 30th inst.: -

Captain for week, Major Gatey; Subaltern do., Lieutenant Bell; Orderly Sergeant do., Col.-Sergt. Harrison.
Monday, 25th, recruits' drill, Kendal, 8 p.m., plain clothes; Adjutant's inspection G Company, Bowness; parade, 7-30 p.m.; drill order.
Tuesday, 26th, battalion drill, Kendal; parade, 7-30 p.m.; drill order.
Wednesday, 27th, recruits' drill, Kendal, 8 p.m. plain clothes.
Thursday, 28th, Adjutant's inspection, Company, Ambleside; parade, 7-30 p.m.; drill order.
Friday, 29th, Adjutant's inspection, B Company, Appleby; parade, 7-30 p.m. ; drill order.
Saturday, 30th, class firing at all stations.

Published Saturday 23rd August 1890
In memory of John Bardgett (15309 L/Cpl.), 11th Border Regiment who died 1st July 1916.

Chris, the last few extracts you have posted all say "published Saturday .....", but do not state the publication. Is it The Wesmorland Gazette or perhaps the Cumberland & Westmorland (Penrith) Herald? Paul.

Paul, the article is posted in the Westmorland Gazette forum so any article without a newspaper mentioned is also published in the same newspaper. This rule also applies to any other article without a newspaper mentioned underneath; whichever forum it is listed in is the newspaper it was published in.

Sorry Chris, I just found it in "Unread Posts" and didn't notice the section it was filed under, I assumed it was the Gazette, but referring to Appleby it could also have been the Herald. Cheers Paul
